Creamy Sorrel Smoothie

This sorrel smoothie tastes more like a delicious vegan milkshake and at the same time it’s super healthy!

Only one cup of sorrel contains 106% of recommended daily amount of vitamin C so start your morning with this smoothie to protect your immune system.

I also like to add half tablespoon of chia and half tablespoon of flax seeds for Omega-3 every single day like a ritual.

Fresh sorrel has a delightful sour taste similar to kiwi so besides frozen banana I also added few dates cause I like everything sweet in the morning. Swap plant-based milk for filtered water or coconut water and skip the dates if you like less creamy and more refreshing drink.

Personally I think sorrel is a perfect green vegetable to sneak in such recipes because it has a very delicate  flavor and doesn’t stick out as other greens do. Plus the tartness balances the sweetness of fruits such as bananas and helps creating new interesting flavor combinations. Here in Ukraine we use it mostly in soups but there is so much more benefits if consuming raw! Too bad sorrel isn’t popular worldwide but you can alway grow your own.

So the recipe is simpler than ever: just blend all ingredients until smooth and enjoy!
