I know you need it right now. Nutrient dense, nourishing and hormone balancing soup, that you can just slowly sip from the mug.
It is full of healthy af green vegetables and whole food fats that everybody’s saying you need to eat everyday. And the most beneficial thing is that you can go and forage the main ingredient without any human contact whatsoever.
Jokes aside lets talk about what makes this soup hormone balancing. I tried to only use ingredients that have these properties and it was actually very easy.
First of all stinging nettle. Nettle is very nutritionally dense food. It helps with hormone balance, it is good hair, skin and nail support and is incredible for overall women’s health.
Broccoli. This amazing green vegetable helps neutralize and abolish carcinogens, helps prevent estrogen-related cancer.
Sunflower seeds. This Slavic staple is rich in vitamin E, very important nutrient for women’s health, may reduce breast cancer risk.
Flaxseed. Beside being good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseed helps removing excess estrogen from the body.
If you don’t have access to nettle, you can replace it with dark leafy greens such as kale. Kale plays the role in balancing adrenal hormones and helps dealing with damage caused by stress.
Steam broccoli florets until they are just fork tender. In case you’re making vegetable stock from scratch, you can cook broccoli in the same pot just when the stock is done.
Rinse the nettle and place it in a bowl. Pour boiling water over and let it steep for few minutes to get rid of stinging. Then drain.
Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Note that if your blender is not powerful enough, you may want to soak sunflower seeds for about 4 hours.
Gently heat up the soup and serve.
